The stand could easily be adjusted- it is held open with a strong piece of material which you could shorten, should you wish to prevent the stand from opening so much.
The stand could be removed from the back of the mirror if you wished but you would need to undo the screws which fixes it in place. Unfortunately the mirror comes with no fixings on the back to hang it by.
